Director of Airport Operations
Captain Abdullahi Zubeir Mahmood is a highly experienced and skilled pilot with a rich background in aviation. He was born on 25th August, 1972, and graduated from the University of Maiduguri with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Geography.
He is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Sustainable Air Transport Management.
Captain Abdullahi joined the services of Arik Air in 2007 as a First Offcer and held various positions in the company. Some of the positions he held include Director of Flight Operations, Chief Pilot/ Fleet Manager for the Airbus A330, MNPS Training Captain, Fleet Manager for the Canadian Regional Jet (CRJ) 900, Line Training Captain, and Member of the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) for Arik Air Flight Operations.
In the course of his career, Captain Abdullahi underwent extensive training and certifcations. He received his B737NG Type rating from CTC (L3) in Southampton, UK, and his A330 Type rating from Airbus in Miami, USA. He also obtained his CL-65 Recurrent certifcation from CAE in Toronto, Canada, and his CRJ900 Type rating from Flight Path in Berlin, Germany.
Additionally, he has received training in various areas such as Aviation Crisis Management, Human Factors in Aviation, and Flight Data Monitoring, Airline Business Model and competitive strategy , Miami, ICAO Performance Based Navigation Training (PBN),Paris.
Captain Abdullahi also served as Managing Director/Chief Executive Ofcer of Aero Contractors Company of Nigeria Limited.
Captain Abdullahi holds several certifcate ratings including an Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) from FAA and NCAA, a Class 1 Medical certicate, and type ratings for aircraft such as the Airbus A330, B737NG, CL-65 (CRJ 900), EMB110, PA 23, TB 20, and Tb9.
With over 12,000 fight hours, Captain Abdullahi brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his role as a pilot.
